Hispanic women leading the way in STEM

AI2ES-supported graduate student Marina Vicens Miquel and fellow grad student Isabel Garcia were highlighted in an interview with KRIS 6 News (Corpus Christi, TX) for representing Hispanic women in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) research.

Both attend Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. Vicens Miquel studies applications of AI to coastal flooding under advisor Dr. Antonio Medrano.

According to the article, women comprise only 27% of the national STEM workforce, and Hispanic women represent even less. Vicens Miquel and Garcia are proud to be examples of female Hispanic engineers and are not afraid to be different.
